FAQs
Who are you anyway?
My name is Cait! (You can remember because it rhymes with Westgate. 😉) I have lived in Westgate since 2020. You may have seen me walking my greyhound, Edelweiss (Eddi for short)!
I am a certified yoga instructor and regularly practice at GoYoga, which is where I took my teacher training. What do I need to bring to backyard yoga?
You don’t have to bring anything! Please do not buy anything to attend backyard yoga! But here are some things I would recommend bringing if you already have them:A bottle of water
Yoga mat (a blanket or a beach towel works great!)
Sunglasses! We’re not facing east when we practice, but we are still outside. 😎
On that note, remember to apply your sunscreen!
A small towel might be helpful to bring. I have so many for you to use under your yoga mat if you’d like, but a small one is helpful for covering your eyes while laying down or wiping off any sweat! ☀️
Foam blocks or other yoga props
What should I wear to backyard yoga?
Wear what you would normally wear to workout. You can’t go wrong with loose, comfortable clothing. What can I expect from a backyard yoga class?
I’ll guide you through 60 minutes of low-moderate intensity flow to increase balance, coordination, flexibility, energy, and focus. Our classes will include a warm-up, a series of standing and balancing postures linked together with transitional movements, and a cool down to help the body and mind relax. Options and modifications are given for many postures so you can adapt the class to meet your body’s needs, and - as always - you may opt out of any posture or movement that doesn’t feel good in your body.I have never done yoga before. / It’s been a long time since I’ve done yoga. / I’m not sure I’ll be able to do the poses.
Hey, that’s okay! Yoga is about meeting your body where it’s at, which looks different day-to-day. Trust me, there have been many a yoga class where I did a child’s pose the whole time!
I was trained to always offer multiple options for a pose, and if none of the options work for you, it’s okay to do what does work for you. You don’t need my permission for how to move your body! This experience is about making you feel great.
